How often should asphalt be sealed?

The Seal Guys recommends every 3 years depending on climate and wear. The Seal Guys sends reminder letters to our customers after 4 years, and generally it only needs a touch up.

My driveway has a lot of cracks. Will you crack fill these?

As part of the production process, The Seal Guys will use a hot pour crack fill . The Seal Guys define significant as cracks of ½" or more wide

Seal coating is not.

The important thing to remember about seal coating is that it is a cosmetic process and is not a structural repair. If your Driveway or Parking lot requires any patching or crack sealing, these must be done first before the seal coating

What is seal coating?

Seal coating is a process not unlike painting your house. The asphalt in your driveway can deteriorate due to exposure from the sun, heavy traffic or oil spills. The seal coating process involves spray applying an asphalt or coal tar emulsion to help protect the asphalt from the elements.

How do you prepare for seal coating?

The Seal Guys recommends that all water systems are off and there are no debris around area being seal coated.

Are different types of sealer available?

Yes. The traditional sealcoat that has been in use since before WWII is a coal tar-based sealer. This creates a hard, durable film, has a deep, dark color and has increased resistance to petroleum spills. The seal coating industry is an industry in change.

When can I drive on my newly seal coated surface?

The Seal Guys use the newest materials that allow customer to drive 12 hours after we have seal coated the lot. Rainy days cause the product even longer to cure.
